Ethernet Switches- Hardened, Commercial & Industrial
EtherWAN offers a comprehensive lineup of Ethernet switches that deliver world-class performance and dependability for industrial and commercial applications in industries such as urban infrastructure, transportation, and surveillance. With an emphasis on hardened designs for industry specific connectivity solutions, EtherWAN also offers commercial and enterprise grade network switches in the following categories:
offer a broad set of features that allow for remote configuration and troubleshooting of the device. Managed switches can be used to create VLANs (virtual LANs) for easier administration and reduced broadcast traffic which result in improved quality of service. Management can be via serial console, Telnet or Secure Shell (SSH). Some managed switches now have Layer 3 features such as static routes, RIP v1/v2, and VRRP. Manages switches generally have greater and more customizable security features such as RADIUS, TACACS+, and AAA.
Layer 3 Switches
are essential components of enterprise or larger networks that contain multiple subnets and VLANs. They combine the wire speed data transfer for devices on the same subnet and IP routing intelligence built in to also function as a router when there are numerous subnets or VLANs connected. Because Layer 3 switches use hardware-based routing and support routing protocols, they can offer better performance for local area networks.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) Switches
eliminate the need for PoE injectors, delivering power to remote devices directly through the Ethernet cable. This reduces the need for expensive electrical wiring for separately powering devices such as IP surveillance cameras, and simplifies installation of such devices. PoE switches are available in every type from hardened managed to commercial unmanaged.
are economical plug and play devices most commonly used in smaller networks and for specific applications. They often have basic features such as broadcast storm protection and alarms for power and link failure, but no methods for remote management.
offer access to basic switch management features such as IP configuration, Quality of Service (QoS), VLANs and trunking through a web-based graphical user interface (GUI).
EtherWAN's product options include a wide range of speeds, including fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps), gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps), and 10 Gigabit (10GE). Installation options include desktop, DIN-rail, and rack-mount. Additionally, a robust line of Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches, including industry-highest 60 watt Ultra PoE, allow for connectivity with and powering of remote devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points. SFP options allow for flexible fiber connections, ideal for long distance, high-speed transfer.
From industrial automation, security, transportation & rail systems, power generation, water treatment, and general manufacturing plants, to remote surveillance locations, EtherWAN equipment delivers the performance and reliability needed.
Switches Certified for Specific Applications/Environments
provide specialized specifications and undergo added testing procedures in order to be certified for use in a specific application. For example, IEC 61850 is an international standard that defines the requirements for electronic devices at electrical substations. However, equipment that meets this standard may also be required for industrial Power Quality Management Systems (PQMS). EtherWAN's hardened solutions meet the requirements for resistance to electromagnetic interference defined for these critical applications.
There are also specific standards for railway applications. EtherWAN's has a wide range of products that are compliant with EN 50155 and EN 50121-4 standards for railway and wayside applications. These products have the ability to withstand EMI, shock, vibration, temperature fluctuations, humidity, and power supply variations for industrial communications in traction rolling stock, mainline vehicle, urban transit and rail networks.
